Take Note of Important Contact Information

This water quality website is dedicated to providing important information about our region's environmental health and critical water quality issues that need to be monitored and addressed.

One continuing issue is the plan for releases from Lake Okechobee and efforts to minimize releases into the Caloosahatchee River. The agencies responsible for the releases are the South Florida Water Management District and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and many of the special interest groups they listen to are high powered and influential. Thanks to close to three thousand emails sent to the Army Corps, there is now a stronger focus on protecting estuaries than a year ago. Your time and energy has already helped to make a difference. But there is much work still to be done, and the need for continued efforts to protect Southwest Florida waters remains strong.

Please check the Sanibel H2O Matters Home page regularly to view the most current issues and priorities.
